Oath of the Ancients works great with this build to double down on defenses. Level 5 is gonna be painful, since you delay extra attack and about half of your spell slots. A 2nd level in Warlock can then double your ranged DPR if you often find yourself unable to reach an enemy. You start with 1 level Paladin, 1 level in Hexblade, then up to 7 levels in Paladin. Hexadin is incredibly durable and keeps you and your allies very safe, since you can focus on CHA without dropping your chance to hit. “Big numbers” aren’t as good as “funny catchphrases and cool moments.” With the odd exception, the DM is on your side and wants you to win, so the goal should be to optimize within a theme or to build a fun-but-competent character. Good luck! If you’re on this subreddit, you know it’s full of people talking about how to buff this or that encounter because their highly-optimized players are chewing through their encounters. Given that you’re only going to get 2 ASIs (total level 5 and 9), you should ask yourself if that’s worth a little bit more charm or if you wanna get a bonus action smacc or something else (Lucky, if your DM hasn’t banned it, for example). I will say that feats that let you do things are a lot more fun (not necessarily more powerful, but more fun) than passive ability increases. Any option gives fun RP choices.Įverybody and their mom takes PAM and Sentinel, and by going SAD on CHA, you might have the ASIs to do it. Maybe your ancestors were terrible and you’d like to do better, maybe they were terrible and you’d like to do worse, or vice versa. Homie seems to be a hexblade Paladin multiclass). If this were me, I’d go Hexblade 1, inheriting the sword of my ancestors, He-Man style, and then swear a sacred oath to do appropriate things (again, oddly He-Man. For ASIs, half-elf works well you can use your two free skills to compensate for your dump stats, and their increases are good. Since you’ll need 13 STR to multiclass out, I’d dump INT and DEX, pump CHA, take CON to 16 relatively soon, and do whatever you want with WIS. This build is already one of the strongest by dipping into Hexblade to make it just CHA-dependent. Not sure who’s mass-downvoting this, but shame on you.
